Alabama has held the top ranking in college football since the preseason, but this week, they face their biggest test of the season in the fourth-ranked Auburn Tigers. Brice Johnson Jersey . The two largest public universities in the state of Alabama have a rivalry that extends back to 1893 when they played the first installment of the Iron Bowl. The Alabama Crimson Tide have not lost since November 10, 2012, including all 11 of their games this season, and faced few challenges along the way. The top-ranked team has won all but one game by more than 12 points; a 49-42 victory over then sixth-ranked Texas A&M in their second game of the season. Alabama is the unquestioned best team in college football, winning their games by an average of 30.4 points. Despite being 10-1, Auburn is a very different story as the highest ranked team without a perfect record. Auburns lone loss came on September 21 against LSU, a team Alabama beat 38-17 and they boast the second best rushing offence in the NCAA, averaging just over 320 yards per game on the ground. However, Auburn has looked far from perfect this season. Narrow wins over Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M had many people questioning the teams rank (7) entering their Week 12 matchup against No. 25 Georgia and the Tigers failed to put those questions to bed. After being outscored by the Bulldogs 21-3 in the fourth quarter, they found themselves down 38-37 facing 4th-and-18 with just 36 seconds left on the clock. Then, quarterback Nick Marshall threw a Hail Mary pass in to Georgias prevent-defence. Playing in double coverage, Georgia safeties Josh Harvey-Clemons and Tray Matthews both attempted to make a play on the ball but the two collided and knocked the ball into the air. As the two defensive backs fell to the ground, Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis grabbed the ball out of mid-air and ran untouched into the end zone to give Auburn a miracle victory. Two weeks later, Auburn hosts their in-state rivals coming off a bye week and sitting at a season-high fourth place in the BCS rankings. Alabama has won two straight BCS National Championship games and a win against Auburn will put the team an SEC championship game victory away from playing for a third straight title. Auburn last defeated Alabama in 2010, en route to winning the second national championship in the schools history. Though the odds are in favour of Alabama, can Auburn continue their magical season and dethrone the Crimson Tide from the nations top seed? As always, its Your! Call. Chris Paul Jersey . It was a loss. But it was also a learning experience. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson had 24 points each to lift Brooklyn to a 94-87 win over the Raptors, making their first playoff appearance since 08. "I thought we played a little bit as expected as it is our first playoff game," Toronto coach Dwane Casey said. Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter also scored for the Americans, who avoided a repeat of Finlands upset at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., in November. Finnish goalie Noora Raty made 58 saves in that one, but the three-time Olympian could stop just 40 of 43 U. MINNEAPOLIS -- If anyone needed a game-winning hit in extra innings, it was Aaron Hicks. The once-prized Minnesota Twins prospect was hitting just .161 and was challenged by manager Ron Gardenhire and acting general manager Rob Antony the day before to take a more professional approach to the game. Hicks responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th and Phil Hughes struck out eight in six innings to help the Twins beat the Boston Red Sox 4-3 in the series finale on Thursday. Many think the only reason Hicks was not sent down already was because of the injuries that have decimated an already thin outfield group. Gardenhire and Antony both said they didnt feel Hicks was doing the necessary homework behind the scenes to be ready every day. "Maybe preparing is something I need to try to do more," Hicks said. "Try things to be able to make my game better and have an edge on the game." All-Star closer Glen Perkins blew his second save of the season, giving up a two-run single to Will Middlebrooks with the bases loaded that tied the game in the ninth. But Kurt Suzuki doubled down the left-field line and Hicks lined a 3-2 pitch to left field off of Andrew Miller (1-2) to win it. "Its such a big hit in a big situation," Hicks said. "It just comes down to how much heart you have in the game. Thats the kind of player I am. I like to play with passion and I dont like the way Ive been playing so far. But its something that sometimes youve got to go through in order to be able to make that next step into becoming a better player." Mike Carp had two hits and an RBI for the Red Sox, but David Ortiz was a quiet 1 for 4 with a single after going deep twice in each of the first two games of the series. Hughes gave up five hits and no walks and Chris Parmelee hit a two-run homer for the Twins, who took two of three from the defending champions. Suzuki and Eduardo Escobar each had three hits and Brian Duensing (1-1) picked up the win. Clay Buchholz gave up three runs on 10 hits and struck out six in six innings for the Red Sox. The Red Sox hitters had been doing well recently, with Ortizs personal home run derby contributing to 28 runs over their previous four games. Louis Williams Jersey. But Hughes put those hot bats on ice on a day when the temperature was 46 degrees at first pitch. Hughes knows Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox lineup well from years of facing them while he was in the Yankees rotation. "He pitches more comfortable here, it seems," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "They threw a lot of strikes, didnt issue many bases on balls. Didnt have a whole lot going for the first eight." Hughes retired nine of the first 10 hitters he faced, won a 14-pitch battle with Xander Bogaerts to end the fifth inning and finished with more strikeouts against the Red Sox than he had in his previous 22 appearances against them. "Im going after them," Hughes said. "Thats been my game plan and has continued to be. Just attack with my fastball and get some flyouts, some strikeouts, swings and misses. I just tried to stay aggressive the entire time." Gardenhire said he hopes Hicks big hit will be the jumpstart his young centre fielder needs. "Hes working at it. Thats all weve asked him to do, study and work and hes doing that," Gardenhire said. "Thats a big hit for him. Nice to see him smile in a big situation like that."
